Nonprofit Seeks Donations for Youth STEM Scholarships
CHARLOTTE, N.C., October 27, 2017 (Newswire.com) - To support more girls in STEM from economically disadvantaged families, Project Scientist has launched a Crowdfunding Campaign to reach $30,000 in donations.
Project Scientist serves thousands of girls every year through the nonprofit’s Summer Academy on university campuses and through year-round STEM Expeditions. Its mission is to educate, coach, and advocate for girls and women with an aptitude, talent, and passion for STEM.
It's imperative that we have funding from individuals and companies to keep this programming available to all girls. As research shows, women make up over 50 percent of the workforce but in STEM fields they make up less than 25 percent. We must continue to advocate for girls who have a passion for STEM.

The non-profit kicked off the campaign at Google Fiber in Charlotte, North Carolina yesterday. Google Fiber generously donated $5,000 to kick-start the campaign.
A donation-matching challenge was announced at the event by Reemprise Fund – the organization will match up to $10,000 in donations during the campaign.
“We are thrilled that these organizations are investing in girls who have an aptitude, talent and passion for STEM subjects,” said Marshall. “We now need companies and individuals to #challengethesySTEM so we can continue to make a difference in the lives of girls from economically disadvantaged families.”
